For the first time, we’re headed to the Osa Peninsula (one of the most biologically diverse regions of Costa Rica), where we’ll be nestled on a secluded beachfront property surrounded by coconut trees, colorful wildlife and the sounds of the ocean. Our private center is complete with a world-class yoga and movement studio, eco-friendly accommodations, and meals harvested from the on-site organic garden.
You’ll be guided by Jurian Hughes, senior Kripalu faculty for over a decade and an expert retreat leader and movement master, known for her ability to make everyone feel comfortable and at home. You’ll enjoy daily morning yoga and meditation, delightful dives into guided movement and dance, delicious gourmet cuisine created by a French chef, forays into nature to get up-close-and-personal with Costa Rica’s abundant wildlife, early morning dips in the ocean, afternoon swims in the pool, and plenty of time to simply do nothing at all.
Appropriate for all levels of yoga and dance experience (and fitness), Jurian offers something for everyone – yoga both enlivening and restorative, with posture modifications and options to suit your body; meditation; pranayama; daily opportunities to dance, write, hike, swim, and be in community; as well as quiet time for healing massage, private reflection and peaceful solitude.
Your week includes daily sessions with Jurian, accommodations just meters from the ocean, a special group excursion to the Osa Wildlife Sanctuary, all meals, a $50 spa credit, plus plenty of free time to unwind or explore. Optional excursions include a canopy / zipline tour, mangrove kayaking, rainforest jungle hikes, and waterfall rappelling.
Dive into the restoring practices of yoga, dance and meditation, and discover…joy. You do not need to be an aficianado of yoga or dance to attend. Feel free to bring partners and friends who may not wish to participate in all sessions. Everyone is welcome!
Jurian’s 2018 Costa Rica retreat sold out quickly, and we have limited space, so register quickly!
Costa Rica is slightly north of the equator, therefore, the climate is tropical year round. Costa Rica was and continues to be a pioneer country in Eco-tourism, drawing visitors to the extensive National Parks and protected areas across the country.
During our week, you’ll be steps away from the ocean for daily swims, nourished by farm to table meals, and enjoy daily classes with Jurian and staff. As a group you will also visit the Osa Wildlife Sanctuary – dedicated to the care of orphaned and injured wild animals. The facility receives mostly juvenile animals that are orphaned by illegal hunting or that have been for some reason abandoned by their mothers and since many of these tiny vulnerable creatures are friendly and can be petted, this destination is one of the most sought after activities in the whole region. We’ll visit as a group, taking a boat ride there and back with opportunities to snorkel and possibly see some dolphins!
*** If you prefer to drive from San Jose to Blue Osa, that’s a possibility as well. The drive is about 5 1/2 – 6 hours. If you’re interested in sharing the ride with others, please let us know and we’ll share your contact information with others who may wish to join you.***
For the 2 flight option, you may need (or choose to) arrive at San Jose one night in advance to take the morning flight on the 9th to Puerto Jiminez. There may be some routes that will allow travel in one day, but given travel delays that sometimes happen from the US, we highly recommend enjoying a day in San Jose before heading to Blue Osa on the 9th.
We are working with Isaac Garcia from Wellness Travel Costa Rica to help the group with the smaller flight using Skyway Airlines. These 40 minute flights are on new and reliable planes and allow a 40lb piece of luggage and a 10lb carry on. (Other small airlines offer less!)
The flights we recommend are the 3:30pm departure from San Jose to Puerto Jiminez on March 9th and the 9am return from PJ to SJ on March 16th. Please contact firstname.lastname@example.org or call 1-844-628-4982 for booking assistance on this flight.
They can ALSO assist with a hotel reservation on the night of the 8th.
If you have other questions about the retreat please feel free to contact Laura@oneyogaglobal.com or Jurian@jurianhughes.com anytime!
Once you arrive in Puerto Jiminez , we will send a shuttle to bring you to the retreat center. We will also provide shuttles back to the airport on the last day. Check in is available starting at 2pm, check out on the last Saturday is 10am.

Tips for services rendered are very much appreciated by the center’s hardworking staff. At the end of the week, you may leave a cash tip in our tip box. All tips will be pooled and divided evenly among our staff of about 17 people who work in the kitchen, garden, office and housekeeping staff. If you would like to tip individually, you may do that also at check-out. As a guide, may we suggest a tip of $10-30 / day. International cell phone service here on the Osa can be sketchy, at best. Sometimes some phones will work, sometimes they won’t. We suggest you check with your service provider and ask them specifically about service in Costa Rica. While there are no phones in the rooms, guests are more than welcome to make calls at our office. The fee for this service is $2.00/min
Blue Osa does not have air conditioning. We are a low impact, beachfront eco-hotel, and we work rigorously to reduce our carbon footprint and our impact on the surrounding environment. Thus, each of our rooms is equipped with a ceiling fan, and the architectural design of Blue Osa allows for the constant flow of air through screen walls, creating a fresh and breezy environment. So while it may come as a shock to some that Blue Osa does not have air-conditioning, we have found that the vast majority of our guests are always quite comfortable.
Blue Osa does have standard North American power outlets, so you may recharge your camera battery, etc.
There are no hair dryers at Blue Osa. Blue Osa is operated by solar power and as such, we have minimal power usage. Thus hair dryers are NOT allowed at Blue Osa.
You do not need any shots or vaccines before visiting Costa Rica. However, we always suggest speaking with your Doctor and referring to the World Health Organization’s website before traveling anywhere.
Emergency medical treatment is available, if necessary, in the Clinica Hospital in Puerto Jimenez and, in the event of an extreme emer gency helicopter airlift to hospitals in Golfito, San Isidro or San Jose is also available. For minor needs, the Puerto Jimenez pharmacy is staffed by very professional people.
