Vacation Details

Like many other One Yoga journeys, you have the freedom to decide each day what your agenda will be. Wake up with the sunrise for a day of invigorating yoga and adventure, or sleep in and laze the day away in a beach hammock with the nourishing sun and sound of the surf as your companion. Whatever your style, you can rest assured that you and your practice are welcome here. Our teachers offer classes in a variety of styles that meets all abilities and needs, including Kudalini yoga, slow flow Hatha yoga, yin yoga, gong yoga, and meditation–all with expert guidance and practices personally tailored to the group.

At Maya Tulum Resort, you can walk from your cabana straight into the Caribbean Sea for a swim, enjoy delicious and healthy meals that magically show up three times a day, and soak in the prana of this magical shore. If you are feeling adventurous, you can visit the nearby Mayan ruins, snorkel in the cenotes, or enjoy the bright colors and sounds of nature at the nearby bio-reserve. If you are feeling introspective, simply take a yoga class or two, have a massage (or two!), relax in a hammock, sip on a coconut, and watch the stars illuminate above the waves. If you are fortunate, you might even spot a sea turtle coming up to lay her eggs on the placid beach at night.

The resort’s natural thatched-roofed cabanas, steps away from the ocean, blend comfort with nature. Every cabana has a sitting area, tiled bathroom, open shower, and a 5-gallon bottle of filtered water that is refilled as needed. Each cabana also has U.S. outlets to charge your devices and a private safe for your valuables.

Part of practicing yoga is nourishing the body with healthy foods, and in this respect, the Maya Tulum Resort shines. Their restaurant serves an all-you-care-to-eat vegetarian and fresh seafood buffet, and these delicious, communal meals are often the highlight of the day. Breakfasts may include fresh local juices, fruits, granola, eggs, potatoes, french toast, yogurt, coffee, and teas. Lunches and dinner may include local specialties, abundant fresh salads, soups, homemade chilaquiles, shrimp ceviche, stuffed avocado, quesadillas, curried rice, fresh local fish, and a dinner dessert that is always anticipated. Inbetween meals, you can always order from the restaurant and enjoy guacamole, fish tacos, fresh juice, or a cold cerveza.


Spa: Maya Tulum offers expert spa treatments and massages with their staff therapists in a number of styles, and many of their their therapists come from a family lineage of Mayan Bodyworkers. Guests report having received some of the best bodywork in their lives at this spa!

Excursions: If you’re feeling adventurous, many excursions are available including snorkeling in nearby cenotes, visiting the Tulum ruins on the cliffs, or scuba diving, to name a few. We will coordinate day to day to make sure you have the vacation you desire.

Temazcal (Mayan Sweat Lodge): Coordinated with a local Mayan shaman, this sweat lodge experience is an optional opportunity for guests to shed unwanted worries and journey into what’s next.

The Maya Tulum Resort is 90 miles south of Cancun on the Caribbean coast of Northeast Mexico known as the Riviera Maya, a verdant area bordered by a pristine blue ocean and emerald-green tropical forests and jungles. The world’s second longest reef stretches from Quintana Roo to Honduras with miles of some of the best beaches in the Western Hemisphere. The Riviera Maya is home to tranquil sea coves, bays, lagoons, caves, cenotes, and other landmarks that are vestiges of a culture thousands of years old.

The influence of ancient Mayan culture on the Yucatan Peninsula makes this area unlike any other in Mexico. The resort is located just a few miles from the ruins of the 13th century Pyramid El Castillo (The Castle) that provide a breathtaking view of the sea crashing below. Tulum boasts an unspoiled native village that is a refreshing contrast to the tourist towns farther north.

The Maya Tulum Resort lies on a secluded road, removed from the other hotels in the region, with its own dramatic beach and private cover. Should you wish to retreat into a world of your own, the resort is self-contained, but with plenty of opportunities to explore the unique offerings of the Riviera Maya and its ancient, mysterious culture. We will be there during one of the most beautiful times of year, when the temperatures range from 78 to 85°F and the water is warm yet refreshing. Guests are free to explore the different beaches in the area, many an easy ride or even a walk from the resort, or simply relax on your private beach listening to the ever-present rhythm of the waves and enjoying nature in all its splendor.

After an easy 90-minute drive, you’ll arrive at your beach paradise.The first meal included in your retreat is dinner, but should you arrive early, you can order some light fare off the restaurant menu and take an ocean swim. I have been engaged throughout my life in the pursuit of Truth and what the essence of my Being is. From the roots of Catholicism through forays into Buddhism, New Age theisms, and philosophy, I finally came to the Science of Kundalini Yoga where I have found Home and a practice which takes me where I want to Be.

The practice and study of this style of Yoga began in 1974 with a hearty exploration diluted with my old ways of being, namely those of hippiedom, until in 1976 I decided to dive all out into a yoga community and bring my practice to a full-time experience.

Deb Kern - Yoga Teacher

Dr. Deb Kern

Deb Kern, Ph.D. is a teacher of vision, a sought-after intuitive guide, health scientist, author and speaker. She has studied with medicine women in Costa Rica, shamans in Bali, and Ayurvedic masters from India to California. A former nurse, health educator, and scientist, Deb conducted a groundbreaking study proving that mind/body integrated approaches to exercise were more effective at reducing anxiety than conventional approaches to exercise. Deb is also a yoga therapist, NIA black belt teacher, and creatrix of PranaShakti–a mind/body movement form.

Laura Forsyth - Yoga Retreat Teacher

Laura Forsyth

Laura Forsyth is the founder of One Yoga Collective. She began her yoga studentship two decades ago and began teaching in 2005. An E-RYT, Laura specializes in Hatha yoga for all levels, yoga for stress management, yin yoga, restorative yoga and iRest yoga nidra. She leads workshops and trainings on special topics such as yin yoga, and she serves as guest faculty in various teacher training programs. She is deeply grateful to all her teachers including Dr. Richard Miller, Judith Lasater, Donna Farhi, Leslie Kaminoff and so many more.

Sarah Sullivan - Yoga Retreat Teacher

Sarah Sullivan

In 1999, Sarah took her first teacher training; a combined Hatha and Kundalini training at Santa Monica Yoga, followed by a second training at the same studio with Julian Walker and Rick Gould. Sarah then earned 650 hours in the healing arts, including massage therapy at the California Healing Arts College, integrative healing arts at The Shiatsu School of Massage and Visionary Craniosacral work with the Milne Institute. She completed a “Yoga Ed” teacher training, to teach children in 1st-8th grade at Esalen.

Sarah teaches both Hatha and Kundalini Yoga suitable for all levels, inspired by the lineages of Krishnamacharya, Iyengar, Patabhi Jois (Ashtanga) and Yogi Bhajan (Kundalini). She teaches students to listen to their inner teacher, while building strength and flexibility, increasing mobility and energy, and enhancing relaxation and discipline.

Refunds and Cancellations: Refund less deposit ($395) before April 1. No refunds after April 1. In case of cancellation, you may transfer your deposit or your reservation to another person as long as you notify One Yoga Global in advance.  In case of cancellation by One Yoga Global, you will receive a full refund of all funds received by One Yoga Global. Due to arrangements made with our vacation hosts, there can be no exceptions to this policy. All participants are required to sign a liability waiver to participate.
