with Gioconda Parker and Jenn Wooten
April 6-13, 2019

Join us for a week in mystical, magical Ireland. We were inspired to create this retreat because we were called to visit the land of our heritage and ancestral history. Ireland is home to rich mystical and spiritual traditions that are woven into its land, people and culture. This will be our first journey together to this verdant land and we hope to share it with you.

We’ll meet in the historic city of Dublin for a walkabout and and take in some traditional Irish food and pubs, then we’ll head south to Cork where we’ll spend the next six nights in the quiet countryside soaking up the the rich history and tradition of East Ireland. Our mornings will begin with grounded flow based yoga and we’ll have many afternoons for yin yoga and meditation. We’ll spend time exploring the picturesque coast, visit the city of Cork and indulge in award winning Irish cuisine. There will gardens to stroll through, libations to linger over and friends to be made.

Vacation Details
Your adventure begins on Saturday, April 6th  in Dublin, Ireland where we’ll spend one night together exploring this lively city & culture. Most US flights arrive in the morning, so we’ll have time to roam the streets and see some sights.

On Sunday morning, we will be transported to the Irish countryside of East Cork where we’ll spend the next 6 nights at the award winning Ballymaloe House.  Condé Nast Traveller Magazine has acknowledged Ballymaloe House on their Gold List, and it was the only Irish venue on this prestigious list of the World’s top 100 hotels. The McKenna Guide 2018 listed Ballymaloe House as one of Ireland’s 100 Best Restaurants.

Accommodation at Ballymaloe House is simple and elegant. Each room has a private bathroom and bathtub where you will be treated to fresh bath salts daily for a nice soak. All our accommodation has a calm and relaxing feel. There are paintings and drawings by Irish modern artists such as Pat Scott, Michael Farrell, Louis Le Brocquy and Norah McGuinness throughout the house as well as examples of Irish studio pottery.

Enjoy afternoon tea in our drawing room by the fire or in the conservatory filled with scented geraniums and winter jasmine looking out onto our gardens and river. Benches are dotted throughout the gardens for you to sit in summer and read or listen to the sounds of the farm. In winter the drawing room is warm and peaceful-the perfect place to relax after a long walk by the sea and look out at the wild Irish sky.

Yoga classes will be onsite at the “Grainstore” – originally built in the 17th century, but converted to host groups and events (including local yoga workshops.  Many of our meals will be catered for us here at the Grainstore, plus we’ve been invited to a special dinner at the Big Shed and another at Ballymaloe House.

During our week, we’ll explore the surrounding area and take a full day trip to the City of Cork which will include dinner with a local chef.

Travel, Additional Information & FAQ’s
Please plan to meet the group in Dublin on Saturday, April 6th.  We will be staying at the Morgan Hotel in central Dublin on the night of the 6th. Check in is in the afternoon, but the hotel can store your luggage if you arrive earlier. We anticipate that some of you will arrive a few days early to Dublin on your own.  For those arriving on the 6th, there are many US flights with morning arrivals.  We recommend these to offer more time in the exploring the city and we will be happy to connect participants on similar flights so they can share a taxi to the hotel.  We will have a special group outing and dinner planned for Saturday night.

On Sunday, we depart for Ballymaloe House in Cork!  One morning group shuttle will be provided back to Dublin International Airport on April 13th. Please book a late afternoon flight   (after 2pm) or if you need to leave earlier, I’m sure the hotel can help you arrange a private car / shuttle back to the airport. If you are extending your stay in Ireland, the hotel can assist if you need (for example) a car rental from Cork – just ket them know in advance (or when you arrive)
