In a secluded and peaceful setting, we’ll be surrounded by a lush tropical forest cradled by a private white-sand beach cove. Part of a tropical yet dry forest climate, Redonda Bay teems with fascinating terrestrial and marine life, including nesting turtles, monkeys, dolphins, and whales–the perfect companions to the inner solace you discover through the practice of yoga.

Vacation Details

Each morning we begin with a Jivamukti Yoga Class in an open-air studio, surrounded by tropical forest, monkeys, parrots, and the crashing waves of the Pacific Ocean. Whether you are brand new to yoga or have been practicing for years, this intimate setting provides the optimal learning environment to deepen your practice with an attentive and experienced instructor. Together we will practice mantra, meditation, pranayama, and once you get moving you can expect lots of hands on assists, alignment instruction, mini asana labs, vinyasa breakdowns and partner work.

The evenings will have a more relaxing and nourishing practice, often accompanied with live music.  Gentle flows, yin practices and restorative poses will offer you an opportunity to truly practice unconditional friendliness and care for yourself.

In addition to yoga, enjoy ocean activities like kayaking, fishing, and world-class surfing, or spend your time on the beach, hiking, and checking out the surfer night scene at Playa Gigante next door. Day trips to colonial Granada, San Juan del Sur, or the iconic twin volcano Ometepe island are easy from the resort’s central location.

Our week together includes your treehouse villa or suite, yoga classes and workshops, all meals, one massage, a guided hike, a surf lesson, airport transfers, a group bonfire, and use of kayaks and snorkel gear. Come explore one of the most stunning and ecologically diverse beaches in Central America with yoga as your guide. Soak in the sweetness and instill practices to remember the goodness throughout your life.

About our home for the week:

Aqua Wellness Resort is a leader in luxury sustainable development in Nicaragua. They employ local villagers, training them when necessary, and they invest in the local community through educational programs and supporting sustainable tourism. Aqua is a model of sustainable building, maintenance, and operational practices that also deliver an excellent experience. The resort has been honored with two awards from the Nicaraguan Environmental Protection Agency (Marena) as a leader in sustainable development and is also Rain Forest Alliance verified.

Aqua’s white sandy beach and private cove is safe from large Pacific coast swells, making bathing relaxing and comfortable. Guests can lounge the day away under a shady tree, swim, snorkel, or kayak. Leatherback, Olive Ridley, and Green turtles nest in the area, and tortoise sightings at Aqua are frequent during nesting season. Popular local surf breaks of Colorados and Manzanillo are just to the north and south, and the resort runs fishing, surfing, dolphin, and whale-watching trips from its own beach.

On land or on water, enjoy an array of activities including fishing, hiking, snorkeling, sea kayaking, paddle boarding, horseback riding, and world-class surfing. The local community and surf town of Gigante has a surprisingly active nightlife. The resort organizes day trips farther afield as well, including volcano and island tours, coffee plantation tours, tobacco rolling demonstrations, a tour of Granada, an excursion to the Masaya handicraft market, and a boat trip to private islands in Lake Nicaragua.

Dining at Aqua is a wellness experience unto itself. With craft and great care, each meal is prepared using as many local, organic ingredients as possible. The resort takes pride in offering fresh fish caught by local fishermen, preparing handcrafted bread and pizzas baked in an adobe oven, and creating refreshing libations for guests to enjoy at the beachside bar while taking in the sun and sea.

Villas were designed by international architects and are individually handcrafted by a local team of Nicaraguan craftsmen using local hardwoods, hewn stone, and glass. The resort was built to blend the best of Nicaraguan materials and building techniques with contemporary design. Bedrooms have en-suite bathrooms with teak or slate showers, on-demand hot water, and the option of fan cooling and air conditioning. Some rooms also treat guests to outdoor Balinese showers, plunge pools and fully equipped kitchens.
